I’ve always had an appreciation for good web design and I enjoy designing for web on occasion. Since high school, I’ve taken four web design classes (two in high school, for the basics, and two in college) and I enjoyed them, though coding melts my brain a bit—thank you, web developers.
Here are a few of my favorite web designs:
Victoria Ying is an illustrator and artist who has worked with Disney on a lot of concept art for animated films like Frozen. Her portfolio site is has a minimal design, highlighting her work in a beautiful way.
I listen to the great podcast Design Life, all about design and side projects, and one of the hosts, Femke, is the designer at The Apartment, an Amsterdam based digital design studio that does web design and development. So obviously, the website is fantastic.
Jackson Pearce is an author of mostly YA—her book Sweetly is my favorite that she’s written as well as Tsarina (as J Nelle Patrick). Her site has a great flow to it and the design elements, the colors all work well together and fit her style well.
Poco People is a design studio in Australia, and I stumbled across their website one day and really loved the design and use of full-screen images taking up most of the design. It’s a really interesting design that I’ve used as inspiration for student web design projects in the past.
There are so many more websites that I like the design of and these are just a handful of them.
